“Creating a Brighter Future Through Giving” Chawla Charity Donates 100,000 Baht to Support the Construction of a Dining Hall for Enhanced Quality of Life at The Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen

A strong and resilient society begins with recognizing the inherent value of every life. Chawla Charity is steadfast in its commitment to leaving no one behind, particularly individuals with intellectual disabilities—an underserved group that requires specialized care and support to lead lives of dignity and fulfillment. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, representatives of the foundation visited The Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen in Chiang Mai Province to donate 100,000 baht. The contribution was graciously received by Mrs. Panomwan Boonreuang, President of the Northern Welfare Center for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Chiang Mai. This donation will facilitate the construction of a new, more spacious, and comprehensive dining hall.

For over 45 years, this institution has served as a cornerstone in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in Northern Thailand. As the first regional facility under The Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, it has played a critical role in rehabilitation and holistic support. However, the central communal space—the dining hall—has become increasingly inadequate due to the growing number of residents and the natural wear over time. This donation is intended to expand and renovate the dining hall, creating a larger and more functional space that accommodates all residents. The objective is to ensure that every meal and communal activity takes place in an environment that is safe, comfortable, and conducive to well-being.

Chawla Charity maintains the principle that “the value of human life is equal, irrespective of developmental status.” While intellectual limitations may shape the experiences of these individuals differently, they possess feelings, aspirations, and the same desire for a quality life as anyone else. The 100,000-baht contribution toward the dining hall expansion represents a tangible step toward fostering a supportive and inclusive society. The true impact extends beyond the physical structure; it lies in creating an environment that reduces crowding and emotional stress for residents, allowing them to participate in daily activities with dignity and comfort. Chawla Charity remains dedicated to recognizing and nurturing every potential, consistently providing care and support to this community, and contributing to the creation of a compassionate society that ensures equitable quality of life for all.
