A small gift from our hands can make a big difference in someone’s life. The Chawla Charity Foundation delivered pillows, overcoats, and mattresses through volunteers and community centers in Mae Hong Son, Nonthaburi, and Chiang Mai—bringing comfort, smiles, and renewed hope.

In today’s fast-paced and challenging world, not everyone has a warm place to sleep at night or a thick coat to keep warm on a cold day. However, Chawla Charity Foundation believes that “giving” does not have to be grand, but rather, it can make a profound difference in someone’s life. In May 2015, we traveled to three areas that are still in great need and shortage: Mae Hong Son, Wat Sri Ping Muang Community, and Wat Suan Kaew, to deliver essential items such as pillows, coats, and mattresses to those facing hardship, such as bedridden patients, stateless people, the poor, and flood victims. These items may seem ordinary to many, but to the recipients, they are a sign of hope and confirmation that they are not alone in this world. Because the heart of Chawla Charity Foundation is to spread positive energy in a tangible form and create change through “small things” that have great meaning.

All three areas we visited this time are facing various forms of hardship. Mae Hong Son is a remote province with a large number of bedridden patients and stateless persons who do not have equal access to state welfare. Wat Sri Ping Muang community in Chiang Mai has just survived a major flood crisis, and many households are still lacking beds and essentials. Wat Suan Kaew is a hub for public welfare projects that reach out to the poor, disadvantaged, and helpless. It acts as the back door of society, providing support to those who have fallen out of the state’s primary care system so they can get back up and fight again.

Our first mission began on the morning of May 20, 2025 in Mae Hong Son Province. The Chawla Foundation donated 97 pillows to the Saphan Boon Kru Nueng Organization, a volunteer group that devotes its energy to helping the sick, disabled, bedridden, the poor, ethnic brothers and sisters on high mountains, and stateless people in remote areas of more than 7 districts: Sop Moei, Mae Sariang, Mae La Noi, Khun Yuam, Pang Mapha, Pai, and Mueang Mae Hong Son. These people are all people who cannot access the government welfare system. They also live in remote areas and have difficulty traveling. Every pillow sent is like a symbol of concern that travels across mountains and winding paths to embrace people that the world may have forgotten.

And in the afternoon of the same day, the Chawla Foundation team traveled to Chiang Mai Province to help the people of Wat Sri Ping Muang community who were affected by the floods. We donated 10 3.5-foot mattresses to families who had no place to sleep, some of whom had to sleep on the cold, hard floor. This item may seem small to many people, but for those who had just gone through a terrible event, it was the beginning of feeling that “there are people who see and understand us.” These mattresses helped them sleep comfortably and start a new day with hope again.

Later on May 24, 2025, the team from the Chawla Foundation  traveled to Wat Suan Kaew to deliver 162 pillows and 112 overcoat to the temple’s public welfare projects, which help the poor and disadvantaged in many areas around the country. These items will be used in charitable activities, helping to fill those who need encouragement in life. The pillows you use and the blankets you wear may not change the world immediately, but they can turn a cold day into a good night’s sleep and re-energize a tired heart.

What the Chawla Foundation has done in these short periods of time may seem small in the eyes of some, but in the hearts of the recipients, it is a huge encouragement that no one can erase. Giving does not have to be big. If we are truly determined and do it from the heart, we can truly create waves of change.

The Chawla Charity Foundation continues its mission of “giving” without ceasing and invites everyone to be a part of this change together. Because when we work together, even just one pillow, one overcoat or a small smile can make the world warmer in an incredible way.
