Niran Chawla, Ph.D., President of the Chawala Charity Foundation, donated 1,000,000 THB to the Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen, through the Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Channel 5 during the event “Wan Ruam Jai Pracha Metta Pannya-aon.”

Niran Chawla, Ph.D., President of the Chawala Charity Foundation and executive of the B2 Hotel Group, donated 1,000,000 THB (one million baht) to the Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen at the event “Wan Ruam Jai Pracha Metta Pannya-aon,” commemorating the foundation’s 61st anniversary. This donation aims to raise funds for various developments to ensure better care and quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Dr. Saisam Wongsasut, President of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen, was honored to receive the donation.

The event was broadcast live on Channel 5 of the Royal Thai Army Radio and Television on July 14, 2024, at 14:30. The program was hosted by Ja-Ja Pimrada Dech-Udom, Wasu Saengsingkaew, and Sririta Jensen. Many distinguished guests attended the event, including Panomwan Boonruang, President of the Northern Region Intellectually Disabled Persons Welfare Center in Chiang Mai, Tassanee Na Songkhla, President of the Southern Region Intellectually Disabled Persons Welfare Center in Songkhla, and Kanya Chaisert, President of the Vocational Training Center for the Intellectually Disabled.

Currently, The Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M.The Queen of Thailand operates 10 service units and is establishing three additional units in Phitsanulok, Saraburi, and Pattani provinces to provide comprehensive care for individuals with intellectual disabilities nationwide. With a commitment to improving the welfare of people with intellectual disabilities, Niran Chawla, Ph.D., donated 1,000,000 THB (one million baht) to purchase a Toyota van for Welfare Center For Mentally Retarded Northern Region, Chiang Mai Province.. This donation will enhance the quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities by enabling the center to transport staff and patients to schools, hospitals, and other important locations conveniently, quickly, and safely.

The mission of the Chawala Charity Foundation extends beyond merely providing donations. It also focuses on creating sustainable development guidelines to help individuals with intellectual disabilities develop and become self-reliant in the long term. The foundation aims to build morale and encourage people with disabilities to take pride in working to support themselves and their families. Additionally, a lunch program is organized to bring happiness and smiles to children and youth by providing nutritious meals that promote a healthy body and sound mental health.
