When the little adventurers in red shirts set off on a journey to the land of smiles and heartwarming stories, the Chawla Charity Foundation took the girls from the Chiang Mai Shelter on a joyful adventure to the animal kingdom at Chiang Mai Zoo.

That morning, even though it was the rainy season, the sky was bright. The soft sunlight from Chiang Mai shone on the shoulders of the small red shirts of the little adventurers from the Chiang Mai Girls’ Shelter. Everyone smiled excitedly, their eyes sparkling as if they had stepped into a fairytale world where new stories awaited them. The Chawla Charity Foundation, which believes in the power of smiles and equal opportunities, created a special day filled with laughter, hugs of love, and friendship from animals big and small at Chiang Mai Zoo, a land of happiness that many children have never had the chance to experience. The excitement of seeing giraffes soaring into the sky, feeding elephants up close, or even running freely under the wide sky, all turned an ordinary day into an unforgettable day. For the Chawla Charity Foundation, this is the true heart of “giving” seeing smiles bloom from small hearts that are ready to grow with hope and happiness.

On the warm morning of May 17, 2025, the Chawla Charity Foundation took 18 little adventurers from the Chiang Mai Girls’ Shelter, located at 163/9 Moo 6, Ban San Um, Choeng Doi Subdistrict, Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai, on an exciting journey to the Chiang Mai Zoo.From the youngest kindergarteners to the older elementary students, all the children came neatly dressed, with hats on their heads and little backpacks packed with care. Meanwhile, the team from Chawla Foundation thoughtfully prepared hearty sandwiches and refreshing fruit juice for everyone — a cheerful breakfast to energize their little hearts for the adventure ahead.

Upon arrival at the zoo, the children were so excited that they were in tears. This was their first time going to a real zoo and seeing animals they had only known from books or on screens. But today, it was not far from their reach. The children had a lot of fun exploring the world of wildlife. They came across a large hippo lounging in the water, a graceful giraffe, a free-ranging black and white zebra, and a hopping kangaroo, which brought smiles to everyone’s faces. But the most special moment came when they met their favorite little capybara, a fluffy, round capybara sitting quietly in a corner. Suddenly, one of the children — let’s call her “Nong Nueng” — grinned widely, her eyes almost closing in happiness, before she turned to whisper in a clear voice to the Chawla Foundation staff, “I’ve always dreamed of seeing a capybara. I never thought I would actually see one. I’m so happy today.” Her words made the Chawla Foundation staff smile involuntarily, reaffirming the powerful truth that bringing children out into the world can give them a lot of encouragement and hope.

After a fun-filled adventure exploring Chiang Mai Zoo, the exhausted but happy little adventurers finally arrived at the moment they had all been waiting for: lunch. The staff from the Chawla Foundation prepared a warm and delicious meal to energize the children: a hot tofu seaweed soup with a hint of pepper, served with crispy chicken in Chu Chee curry sauce. The meal was served with cold water, which helped to relieve the fatigue of walking around the zoo. The children gathered in a small circle, happily enjoying the meal. Laughter and friendly conversations filled the air, making the meal more than just a meal, but a moment filled with happiness.

After a delicious lunch, the children and staff from Chawla Foundation relaxed and chatted happily. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and smiles. Many people took out their phones to take pictures together as a precious memory. Before it was time to leave, all the children lined up and said in unison, “Thank you for taking us on this trip,” with bright voices and eyes full of happiness. Their bright smiles made the foundation staff feel grateful and happy beyond words. Before they left, there was a warm goodbye hug to capture the last moment of this happy day, which will become one of the beautiful memories for both the children and the staff for a long time.

For Chawla Charity Foundation, this event was more than just a field trip for the children — it was about creating opportunities, inspiring dreams, and planting seeds of curiosity and learning in their hearts. We deeply believe that the most sustainable form of giving is providing access to education and opening the world for children to learn from real-life experiences. The whole world is a classroom, and we believe every child has the right to learn from this vast world equally, no matter where they come from or what their life circumstances may be. One day, these small seeds will grow into strong trees — becoming a driving force that transforms Thai society for the better.

Join us in offering opportunities for learning and happiness to children through the meaningful activities of Chawla Charity Foundation. Because just one helping hand can change the life of one little child forever — like the sunlight that shines, bringing hope to a young heart, allowing it to soar toward its vast dreams.
