On Saturday 20th of June 2015, Chawla Charity foundation and its volunteer team visited and hosted a lunch at The Northern Welfare Center for the Mentally Retarded, where to support and provide services for children with intellectual disabilities. It is located in Nam-Pueng Villege, Nong Pueng District, Sarapi, Chiang Mai Thailand. The atmosphere at that day was filled with smiles and warmth of both the givers and the recipients.
Many of the children who come to the Northern Welfare Center for the Mentally Retarded to live are intellectual disabilities. Many of them are abandoned by their parents, and there are no other options for their care.
We arrived to the school a little bit early before their lunch time and there was a school staff led us to the dining hall where children were having lunch. Those children seemed to be fascinated by us.
We all had such a great time on this visit and really learnt about their life while we were having fun at the same time despite in a very short period of time. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we are sure we would definitely go and visit them at the charitable foundation again.
A BIG THANK YOU to all The Northern Welfare Center for the Mentally Retarded’s volunteer staffs for your loves and cares for these children.
“We enjoy doing it … just to see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they get a donation”
